Good food, good drink. A friend and I shared the 10000 Bubbles Flight and the Italian Gem flights and were very happy with both. We ordered the spinach salad, which had a nice mix of cherry tomatoes, red onion, pine nuts, and a good dressing. The shrimp scampi small plate was fabulous. We also ordered the pappardelle al sugo and the beef special, both of which were excellent and came in a delicious sauce. Only complaints was that we had to ask for the bread after our appetizers were served. The bread was warm, delicious, and served with butter. We asked for a second round of rolls so that we could eat up the fabulous entree sauces and this time, they were room temperature and there was no butter. Overall, a very tasty experience. I look forward to returning.

As a proof of concept its not bad. I truly hope they get some community support and obtain the permanent license they deserve to develop the concept. Because it does need development. The general setup is a wine bar like you will see in many more beverage bountiful cities. 50+ wines by the glass, liquor, cocktails, beers and a small supporting bites menu. You can order from the Cafe Molise menu too (same owners) till about 9PM or so I believe. Right now the staff is terribly green, my bartender admitting to some other patrons, his expertise was really cocktails. If the business does continue with a permanent license past the end of October 2013 they need seriously educated wine folks who guide someone expertly through the menu. As things stand, I was kinda left to picking somewhat arbitrarily from options I thought I recognized from small boutique wineries. I thought the absence of wine flights on the menu was a crazy oversight (unless there's a DABC reg I'm not aware of) with so much product available by the small pour (2.5oz smallest available). Not that you couldn't construct your own flight, but you'd need to be a smart oenophile to do that - and for me, the whole point of fun wine bars is making the often impenetrable and snooty world of wine, accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Bags and bags of potential and promise. I'll raise a glass to their success and hope they can keep going and build on the base of what they have.

BTG Wine Bar is a lovely spot. My mom was in town visiting and I wanted to take her out to a fun but nicer bar and we went to BTG. We ordered wine flights (Malbec and Riesling) and the antipasti plate and everything was so wonderful. Our server was charming and the entire night was really special. My mom is still talking about how much fun she had at BTG and I can't wait to go back!

I've been to BTG three times, I've been *inside* BTG one time. And therein lies the problem. The one time I managed to go, I really enjoyed it. Maybe a little too pricey, but the wine selection is great and the apps are delicious. BUT SERIOUSLY?! Two out of three times, I arrived and the place was closed for a private party. On both occasions I checked the website to confirm the hours and the second time I even looked for an event calendar, which I found and which listed nothing. Am I really expected to call in advance of every visit? Imagine if this was normal for all restaurants... USE YOUR CALENDAR and I might come back.

I'm excited that SL finally has one of these! Unfortunately, this will end soon in Oct because of their seasonal liquor license. Anyway, it reminds me of the wine bars in New York and Phoenix. The ambiance is really awesome and they have a unique selection of wines with many bold, delicious wines to choose from. You can decide to have either a 2oz for taste or a full glass. For SL, this is a really awesome place if you want to try something different and you're not a wine snob. I will agree that it's nothing compared to the wine bars in Europe, but lets remember that this is SL. I'm just thrilled this downtown area isn't consumed by cheap, tasteless franchises. Enjoy!

We were referred by a friend to visit The Wine Bar and was not disappointed. The dark atmosphere was inviting with its subtle lighting. The menu selections was broad but not overwhelming. Our server was very helpful in his knowledge on the wine selections, which really helped. If I had to find a con, it would be the hostess. She could of been a little more inviting in her greeting. Loved this place. We will definitely be back soon.

Excellent wine selection with the ability to order good from the restaurant next door. Service is slooooow every time I've been, but won't deter me from going. SLC needs more places like this.

Went last night and now have the most horrible case of food poisoning I have ever been privy to. If I live, I'll never return. I haven't spoken to all my friends who attended but the one I did talk to is also very ill.

Love the ambiance, love the wine selection, and they let you order off the menu at caffe molise! Be warned that the kitchen closes at 9 on the week days and 10 on the weekends.

BTG is a wine bar operated by the owners of Caffé Molise. This is not a full review as it has been open less than a week. BTG offers Salt Lake City I believe its first wine bar where you can get a 2oz, 5oz, or bottle of wine without getting food. Currently, BTG offers primarily wines from the west coast and Italy. They have a wide variety of reds and whites from those regions, but do not yet go there for Spanish or any other types of wines (they are going to be added though I heard). I felt the prices were reasonable for all the pours and even some of the bottles. I had a Malbec and Grenache 2oz pour and a full glass of a California Pinot Noir. Unlike other cities outside of Utah, this is now an opportunity to try a very expensive wine with a 2oz pour at a reasonable price. Wine is in cabinets and hooked up to a pressurized system that way it is as fresh as can be. It looks very cool, but I do miss something about wine being pour from a bottle rather than a spout. Along with wine, BTG serves a limited food menu with bruschettas, cheese plates, meatballs, and a mac and cheese that I wanted to try. I was just checking it out so I will try the food soon. In addition to their own menu, you can order from Caffé Molise which is a very nice touch. In addition to wine and food, BTG serves cocktails and desserts. The cocktails seemed pretty standard, but you can ask them to make anything. The ambiance seemed very chill and relaxed with some leather sofas, formal dining tables, and some booths in the window. They also have a fairly large bar that you can fit a number of people at. I get a sort of Red Door vibe from the place. I could see myself meeting up with friends before dinner downtown or after dinner. There is parking on the street and the manager of BTG was very friendly. He wanted some of my wine suggestions. The bartenders seemed new to wine, so hopefully they will get better with age. I think it might do very well after it expands the variety of wines. BTG is a great addition to the Salt Lake City area and I always like more options than less. I will definitely be visiting BTG again.

Great place, i was at the bar and Brian(the bar tender) was great, he recommended me with a cabernet and it was great, he made me want to tip him more then 50% of the bill which i did. The mood was great and loved the lights, the design was perfect inside. the size of the tables were perfect and the bar was great. I think that you pay for the whole mood and the atmosphere for the bar, if you have to complain about the price? I recommend going to somewhere else but if you are willing to pay for the whole se not just your drinks (which i mean the mood and the atmosphere) it is well worth your money. I think I'm going there tonight again. Well done BTG!

I have been to BTG a couple of times and each time I have enjoyed the friendly, professional staff. A staff that is also knowledgeable about wine and spirits. Louis Koppel, the sommelier, always makes keen recommendations based on wines I love, while throwing in a couple I wouldn't think to try and surprising me with new favorites. Kelly is so good at what she does, up selling my boyfriend and I on dessert wine and making sure that we love everything. I wanted to have a negroni to top it all off and the mixologist made it perfectly just like the east coast. I'll keep coming back and I'll recommend it to my friends.

I usually enjoy wine bars because they treat single women travelling for business quite well. Unfortunately, this restaurant did not live up to that expectation. The host at the entrance was awkward and did not seat me directly, he seemed undecided where to put me and did a u-turn before picking a table for me. The waiter seemed to think all chicken should be served with white wine, although the dish was wrapped in prosciutto and had other savory notes. When asked to recommend a fruity, non- tannic Spanish red he recommended a tannic, high alcohol red with no complexity or fruit. It was nearly undrinkable. I should have gone with one of the Rojas, but usually at these places the servers have experience with the list and I like to try new wines. The chicken had that 'reheated chicken' flavor, was tough, and there was a huge mound of gooey mashed potatoes in the center accompanied by overcooked and salty squash. The roll was stale. Not recommended. Even if the server was ignorant about wine, he should have been polite and willing to learn something new. Staff should be better trained.

I've been here twice and both times I really like the vibe. I really liked their cheese platter and I LOVED the mac and cheese. I didn't love the service sadly. The second time I went my friends didn't get their wine until long after their food... so a meal with no drink at all. I feel like that's a big no no. The server was not a very friendly dude..

Food was delicious and well priced. I was with a group who spoke very little english and everyone was absolutely wonderful with our every need. No drink hit bottom and we were regularly attended to with special assistance for our Spanish speaking guests. Service get a 10 today!

Simply wow. The waiters and waitresses were polite, friendly, and EXCITED to talk about the wine and food. the ambiance is chic and clean, but the bathroom is well-lit and rather fancy ^_^ I started with the cheese plate and a flight of sav blancs. The cheese plate was out surprisingly fast and was worth every penny - 5 quality varieties, marinated artichoke hearts, cherry tomatoes, salsa, and fresh bread. I could have eaten the entire thing for an entree, but wanted to try a main dish, so I ate half. They were very kind about boxing the remains and refrigerating them while I continued my meal. The wines were bright and fresh - one was good enough that I asked to see the bottle so I could note it to buy later. Next up was a flight of Argentinian Malbecs. Peppery and lush, they were great examples of the region. They disappeared too quickly - oops... My entree was prefaced with a light salad - spinach and fancy greens tossed in a light vinegeratte and topped with a cheese akin to a cojito (think light and crumbly). Upon being served, I was offered fresh cracked pepper - a touch that seemed too fancy for the salad. It was fine, but not worth wasting my appetite on when I was excited for my entree. And then came my parpadelle. Now, I love parpadelle. It's one of my favorite kinds of pasta. While this had potential, I was miffed by the pasta being a pile of mush - it was simply overcooked to the point of all the noodles sticking together in a heap. They lacked texture. That said, they were covered in a DELICIOUS pork red sauce. It was an odd contrast - the sauce had so much body and flavor. I look forward to returning, trying a different dish (99% of the menu was appealing to me!) and staying for dessert. Good for a ladies night or date night, but I had fun sitting alone at the bar.

Visited SLC over this past weekend to surprise my sister for her birthday. We made reservations at BTG for her official birthday dinner and were very impressed by this place! The wait staff was great. We had Collin who was an absolute charmer. He managed to put up with our silly questions as the night wore on and we became more inebriated. We ordered dinner from Cafe Molise (they share a kitchen) and absolutely loved our meals. I ordered the Involtini di Pollo and it was FANTASTIC. The chicken was very moist and cooked to perfection. The white wine butter sauce was very creamy and tasted wonderful paired with the sun-dried tomatoes in the chicken. My sister and her boyfriend ordered the wine flights which they both enjoyed. It's a very easy way to try a bunch of different wines. After all, it is a wine bar, so it's probably best to drink a variety of wines once there. I ordered an Old Fashioned which I thoroughly enjoyed. Overall, BTG provided a wonderful atmosphere for a birthday dinner. Would definitely recommend it!

This place is absolutely perfect for a wine bar - amazing selection of wine as well as craft beers, cocktails and spirits as well as the perfect selection of small plates and desserts. The atmosphere is ideal - Edison light bulbs, wine glass chandeliers and furniture that looks like it's from Restoration Hardware. The staff is very welcoming and friendly and there's plenty of room to find a quiet corner. And bonus: although the decor is beautiful, the attire is casual - I went in my Tiger sneakers and didn't feel out of place. This is a top notch wine bar! I would highly recommend this fantastic place!!!

Though the wine was a tad over priced, this is a cute little place for a drink. Just don't order the food. Went in for a quick bite before a show at Capitol Theater. First I ordered the spinach salad. The spinach wasn't trimmed, the grape tomatoes were wrinkly (read old) and the mushrooms tasted off (again, read old). Only ate about a third of the salad and just couldn't eat anymore. Ordered tomato bruschetta instead. Boring!! Tomatoes were mealy and the whole thing flavorless. Needed garlic, basil, lemon juice-something. Also, it was lovingly garnished with, you guess it, wrinkly tomatoes. I'll use up those old tomatoes at home but certainly don't expect them when I'm out to eat. On the whole, will never eat there again and wouldn't recommend it for anything other than a drink. Very disappointed.

Go see Kelly and Finn and Shelley and bask in an oasis that is the Wine Bar in Prohibition Salt Lake City. Many flights to choose from, wonderful pours, tasty small bites for late-night noshing, and they got their liquor license! If someone's posted a negative review, I can only assume they don't know what a wine bar is. If you need more food, Cafe Molisse's at your service. Make a reservation and indulge. And put a jacket on! Great for parties of 5 or more, and perhaps a lovely date night destination too. I will be back often.

Don't knock it until you try it. This place has a great atmosphere, decent wines (I'm sure that you'll find d one that you'll like) and the bartender knows his way around a cocktail.

We shared some small plates. The polenta is huge! A meal size for sure. I was not a fan of the polenta but I wanted to try it. The cheese plate and bread were great. The bruschetta was decent. Salad was small that came with your entree. The fish was fresh. The highlight of the evening was the service, the wine and Vegetarian Eggplant meatballs. Great place, nice ambiance. A little on the pricey side but about what I expect for a wine bar.

Stopped here for a drink recently, I have now been here on several occasions. Our server was enthusiastic and recommended some good Italian wines. I like how you can purchase sampling sizes and create your own flight. It's nice to have a dedicated wine bar in SLC. One negative note was that the person manning the front desk where they check IDs was rude and abrupt with us which dampened our mood. The rest of the staff are attentive and work hard to create a good atmosphere so that was a little disappointing.

Most friendly and professional server I experienced in my week in downtown Salt Lake, Clif was the only designated waiter this evening. Due to the conference we were attending, Café Molise was booked, so they suggested we try BTG next door as the menu and kitchen is the same. Clif handled the busy workload with humor and professionalism (more than I can say about the grumpy manager who almost threw the plates at us when she was helping to deliver meals). I loved my Bourbon Mule cocktail and chicken masala entrée. Everyone else spoke highly of their food too. The atmosphere, excellent food, and Clif's top notch service more than made up for them being under staffed and the unhappy manager's behavior and warrants 5 stars from me.

Wine selection and service staff - good. Appetizers - good. Dessert paired with wine - very good. Entre' - so so. More bread than pasta and shellfish on "the pasta" dish. Tapas platter is legit

First time here, and really wish I had discovered it sooner. Better late than never. Love that it combines wine bar with great food from Caffe Molise. For the area, a really great wine menu with some that I have never seen locally. Clif, our server, was extremely knowledgable and attentive. He made great recommendations including the dark chocolate cake and Carol Shelton pairing. His recommendation of the carignon with my eggplant ravioli was spot on. Will definitely be gunning for regular status here.

First time going to a wine bar and this establishment was a good start for me. Dimmed lighting place. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the wines . We had the 2009 Muga- it was good, with cheese and artichokes. I'd say those two items complemented the wine quite well. Definitely try this place when in Salt Lake.

BTG is my favorite wine bar in SLC. They have an awesome selection of wine and the servers are very knowledgeable. Another perk is that they serve wine flights, so if you can't decide, just order a taste of 4! My favorite white wine that they have is the Crios Torrontes from Argentina. I don't know much about red wines but their list is extensive. They also have a good selection of beers and make some great craft cocktails of wine isn't your thing. Their food is also excellent. The portions aren't enormous and they're perfect for pairing with the wine. I actually enjoy ordering several of the appetizers, it's plenty to fill up on. The cheese plate is always good and has a nice selection. Their grilled focaccia with marinara is also worth having. But if there's one appetizer you must get, it's the fried macaroni and cheese balls. They are simply a piece of heaven. Maybe just order a few plates of those for your meal. They only thing I would change about them is adding more of the red pepper sauce. Lastly, their I've had a couple of their entrees which are great as well. The steak is exactly what you would expect: a simple well prepared steak. The scallops are some of the best I've had, although they are small and I felt like they were more of an appetizer than a main dish. I would recommend the chicken. It's served with a ding sauce and gnocchi. The sauce is superb and I used the rest of my bread to mop it up. Overall, BTG is a perfect place to relax and enjoy great wine and some pretty special food.

This place is cool! They have an amazing wine selection and a number of different ways to sample it. You can get your grape juice by the glass (BTG), by the bottle, or by the ounce. This makes it easy and affordable to sample some varieties and choose a favorite before making your substantial investment. I just order mine BTG, because I can drink one glass of just about anything! The decor and ambiance are cool. It reminds me of an old-timey, or perhaps current timey, European wine cellar. They have some food, but we were stuffed from the raw fish place next door so we didn't partake. I guess trying the food is a good excuse to go back again... soon!

Why didn't I visit this place sooner? This establishment is classy, quiet and modern. The food was great and I'd like to go back and try other items on the menu. The steak- cooked medium and it was juicy and tender and the greens complimented the dish well. The wine flights- you have an option between red and white. I chose white just bc that's what my pallet prefers and I enjoyed all 3. White is going to be sweeter than red so if you have a sweet tooth like i do then white is right! White sangria- dangerous. It'll get you drunk and is very strong without tasting strong so you know that's trouble. I thought I could handle my second one just fine but the next morning my body told me differently. Atmosphere- definitely some place you go for date night. The lights are dim, candles on the table and string lights around the restaurant make this place a little more romantic than other bars. I'm sure it gets busier over the weekend but on a Monday night where only a few other tables were occupied and I was on a date, it was very nice and I'll be back.

First timer here last night and won't be the last. There are tons of wine flights to choose from and even a mix of red and white in the same flight, which I don't see at many places that offer flights. The food is from Caffé Molise (next door) and is excellent. The dinner salad was so simple it was amazing. Just some mixed greens with some Italian cheese - so simple, but with super-fresh ingredients it worked so well and was fantastic. If there was any other dressing on it you couldn't really tell, so if it was there, it was so light as to be invisible. I had a shrimp pasta with a spicy tomato sauce (which wasn't really a 'sauce', more like beautifully sauteed). The number of shrimp on the plate beat Brio (just up the street) by 2-1. I was very pleased with how they were cooked also. No bouncing those puppies around the table like other rubber shrimp -- they just melted in your mouth. The wine list is great -- I had the red Taste of France flight which consisted of a Loire, Rhone and Bordeaux. All were good, but just reinforced my ambivalence of Loire wines. You could just give me a bucket of the Rhone...

I loved this place for more reasons than just the food and wine. The wait staff was wonderful & we also enjoyed the atmosphere. You could tell all the employees really enjoyed what they were doing, which improves any dining/drinking experience tenfold. My friend and I were not super hungry, so we shared a tapas platter with cheeses, prosciutto, candied pecans, balsamic vinegar soaked olives & grapes, and sraracha soaked cherry tomatoes. Everything was delicious, but the candied pecans and srarcha tomatoes were my favorite. The flavor profile of the pecans was driving me crazy bc I couldn't figure it out! I asked the waiter, he asked the chef, and I learned the secret (shhhh)--powdered sugar, honey, paprika, and cayenne. What!? Mind blown! Seriously, go try them for yourself! Also, I was thankful that our waiter (shoutout to Cliff) was very down to earth and easy to talk wines with. No judgement at all when we had questions or when I asked for my red wine to be chilled.

Just returned last night for another delicious wine flight, but more importantly, we tried their new entree, "The Vegetable." It's vegan, huge, and even my carnivorous partner pushed his scallops aside to eat what remained of mine. The rice has sort of a BBQ flavor and the tofu is perfectly fried (in a way I could never pull off at home). There were entire slivers of garlic, green beans, eggplant, and mushrooms. I asked our waitress how long they'll have it since they mix up their menus every few months, and she said it's become a staple. I think this means we'll be returning monthly.

I've been here a hand full of times. Usually to meet up with friends or someone requests a wine bar. I think it's ok but I wouldn't go on my own choosing. I think it kind of has a strange smell but no one else seems to notice. Not sure what that's about. If you want to explore a variety of wines then this might be a place to start. They do have decent cocktails. I recently had the Kerouac's cup which was pretty tasty. A black tea ice cube and bourbon. Servers have been hit and miss. I gotten some with attitudes for some reason. Or just slow. Give it a try and see what you think. Others seem to like it.

Great vibes and knowledgeable staff! Went here for a low key romantic night. I made a reservation and they gave us a nice table with view of the restaurant and very cozy. If I could give BTG six stars, I would. Went in after a long, long drive on a Monday night, and was greeted with a sit anywhere and a pleasantly not-too-full room. The bartender was one of the best I have ever had the pleasure of being served by; a true master of his craft and lacking any form of pretension. Recommended great liquors and even though he was working behind the bar, consistently came out to check on us and even gave us a free tasting of a wine I had previously passed on. A wonderful experience that other wine bars can take note of. BTG in Salt Lake City, I will be back.

Firstly, the staff was very friendly and our waiter was fantastic. He treated us with the utmost respect and friendliness. Additionally, he was very mindful of my dairy intolerance. Throughout the night, he was very attentive and had a great sense of humor. Secondly, everyone's food was delicious and we especially enjoyed our wine and mixed drinks. To top it all off, our desserts were complimentary due to it being my friend's birthday, even though we hadn't disclosed that information to the restaurant. Our waiter was so detail-oriented that he noticed her opened gifts and the wrapping paper! All in all, we had a great experience and I can't wait to go back!

Where is everybody??!? This place is fantastic. From the food to the service, it can't be beat. Try the pork, oh my. And the vegetarian meatballs are great. It is fun to try one of their "flights", three 2 ounce servings of champagne, wine, IOU choose.

Wine on tap? Awesome! Salt Lake definitely needed a place like this, and I'm sure they'll be staying around for a while. It has more of an upscale ambiance, but still casual enough to not have to get too dressed up. The wine selection is pretty good, but I've had the misfortune a couple times now of requesting a chianti that they were out of. Woe is me, I know. If you're not a big fan of wine, they have some nice cocktails to choose from and beer also. If you're feeling too boozed up, they are serving some food items from Cafe Molise until 10pm I believe. I had some of the truffle mac and cheese, and I think I had a mouthgasm. The portion size wasn't meant to be shared though, because it was gone in a matter of seconds.

Love the concept and I will go back because I truly like to drink more than I eat. Great selections of wine and cool flight arrangements. You can tell some solid thinking went into this concept. I have 2 suggestions and if they are met I will change my review to 5 stars. 1. When ordering a flight I would like to see the glasses labeled so I can remember what is what. Hell even a little scratch paper and golf pencils would be fine. After a little wine I stated to forget what wine I was sipping. 2. The Hostess needs to be nice and not dicking around on her iPhone. I did not feel like I was welcome. I know you can't hold the entire restaurant responsible for a single employees actions. I personally think someone more along the lines of a concierge or a wine ambassador should be the greeter. This bubbly person should seat the table and go over the concept of BTG. Maybe even explain some of the new wines. Keep up the good work!

This is a fun bar & they have great food too! Lot's of selections for wine. I love the tasting flights.

My husband and I decided to do a semi-bar crawl one Thursday night (semi because it was only two places. Does that count?) and ended up here because we heard SLC finally had a wine bar. It's kind of an exciting thing, actually. The atmosphere is very nice, but if anything just slightly sterile. It's like it has new car smell all over it. But they played great music, primarily blues, and we were having a good time. The wine menu is, as you'd expect, extensive, with a variety of different flights to try. The reds seem to outnumber the whites almost two to one. As a weirdo that strongly prefers white wine, this was a little disappointing but there was no shortage of choices. The white wine menu is focused on American, German, and Italian wines while the red wine menu has a bit more variety. My husband and I both got the Pretty and Perfumed flight, which sounds a lot more frou-frou than it was. It was a good variety: torrontes, viognier, and an Italian variety I can't recall. All were quite complimentary, and were certainly perfumed. We were having too good of a time to leave after the wine, so we decided to try a couple of cocktails. Alan had the bourbon mule, which was great. It definitely had more complexity than most cocktails, which can sometimes be too sweet. I had the deconstructed scotch, which was wonderfully creative (and also excellent). I now want my drinks to always be rimmed with prosciutto. We arrived too late to try anything from the small plates menu, but plan to check it out on our next visit. Prices are a bit high, but not above the usual prices for this kind of place. Service was very friendly. I enjoyed my visit, and I'll be back again.

I finally tried this place out as my friend suggested we go with him. I love the flights and the setting. I only suggest that the lights be a little brighter. The servers were very polite and awesome with suggesting the food with the pairings. Everything was delicious and with the many flights we all tried. They even set out the flights based on the menu and will even tell you which is which from the fist to the last on the menu. I really enjoyed them being knowledgeable and helpful with the pairings.

PLEASE READ! :) We came here with high expectations for this bar considering the Yelp reviews. When we arrived we weren't promptly greeted by the host but a few moments later, he checked all out ID's. He said we can choose any seats in the bar we choose the higher leveled round couch with the window view of the street. We weren't greeted by our server, Bryan K., when he came to the table he simply said, "you guys know what you want?" :( like no greeting no "do you guys need help with the menu, there was no "can I give you guys a recommendation?" I asked the server what I should order, what is the most popular drink, etc? He said it's "subjective"... Um hello you're a server and sales person, are you not trying to tell me about how awesome this place could potentially be if the service was even up to par, what drinks are good?! Nope! "what's good to her might not be good for you." I have been a waitress for years and am and have worked at the most lucrative clubs around the country in Las Vegas and New York City but am not a wine drinker, I mostly do liquor or champagne but I know what bad service is! After placing our orders, he came back and brought our drinks, didn't tell me which wine was which for my order of flights of wine and just simply left, the food came and was delicious. Never once did he check up on us and asked how the food was and typically you would ask after a few bites if the client needed anything else perhaps salt or it wasn't cooked right and so forth. We finished and we ordered dessert and I looked Bryan in the eye and said can I please have some water because he did not check on us to even see if we needed refills, there was no silverware or small plates that he should have brought for us for dessert. We went to the bar and asked for the water and the plates after several minutes later. I was tempted to talk to the manager about how this server was but did not. We tried to have the best experience we could because I do not live in the Salt Lake City but call it home, nonetheless we left him a tip which we shouldn't have since it gratuity is based on service and it was very poor. But to make matters worse my brother in law made a review here on yelp, and was harassed by the server Bryan K. here on yelp! Managers/Owners of BTG and Café Molise please put your employee on a leash because he is a complete representation of you and your business. I will post the picture for y'all to see attached to this review. He really took time out of his day to go on a rant with my brother in law. And called him an over privileged b*tch! Lol no it's called knowing good service and having respect. I wouldn't recommend coming to this place not because of the food or drinks but because of the type of employees that harass clients/customers they hire. Really a shame!

The food was pretty good. Cocktails were amazing but the service was a little off. Slow to bring dishes and not really professional. The server entered the wrong drink into the computer and when the bar tender brought it to our table she acted like it was the end of the world that the wrong drink was made. I would go back but it isn't my new favorite restaurant by any means!

I've met friends at BTG a few times now and have been consistently happy with the experience. I love the selection of wine and the flights that encourage me to venture outside of my trusted favorites. The vouvray that was in the flight of whites that I got last time (apologies for forgetting its name) was magnificent. I've only tried a few of the appetizers, all of which were good though not life changing. I'm completely alright with that, however, because I'm going to BTG for the wine. The one dessert I shared, on the other hand, was absolutely delicious: the warm bread pudding. The staff has always been pleasant and friendly but not intrusive, and even when the place is busy it never feels too crowded or like the servers are overwhelmed. The most disappointing thing, IMO is the relatively sparse selection of dessert wines. If I remember correctly I think there's only one type of port on the menu at $10/glass. It would be nice if there were a few more options with a wider range of prices, given that it is a wine bar.

BTG: a wine bar with the largest selection of wines I've personally ever seen. The long list of wines can be intimidating if you aren't familiar with the many varieties but that's part of the fun. Trying a new wine in their attractively decorated restaurant can be like throwing darts but overall is always a treat. Being located near City Creek and the Convention Center is a perk even if parking can be a small pain. I've been happy with the House Sangria the couple times I've been.

BTG offers a absolutely great experience for food and wine in SLC. There is a small plate menu as well as the full Cafe Molise menu available. Huge options for wine and many great ones. Food and wine are awesome. Service is slow and a bit unorganized both times we have visited. Could be improved and would be 5 stars if it is. Patrons this is for you: Please do not go to a wine bar wearing perfume or cologne. We were absolutely bombed by two tables and left prematurely because we could no longer smell or taste our wines. If you don't get the wine experience try not obscuring ever freakin possible nuance of the wine with your stench. COME ON PEOPLE!

Amazing service! The options to do wine tastings is spot on! Gorgeous bar with a beautiful mix in modern and eclectic decor! Loved the subtle lighting and low and not loud music! Perfect for conversation and enjoyment of your selection! I truly truly enjoyed the Red Flight Pinot Noir selection, however my favorite was the Pinot Belle Glos, Santa Maria, CA! It was smooth, bodied and perfect balance of sweetness and spice. Which complemented nicely with the mushroom truffle bruschetta! Absolutely a perfect ending to a stressful day at work! Will definely come back for more! Salut!

I like this place. My 3 star review is simply because I haven't tried to food, and I have only been here once. My instinct is to give this place 4-stars. But the more I considered what I got and the limited interaction I had, I bumped it back to 3. I was only here to meet a friend for drinks for his birthday. All four of us were talking all night, just over 2 hours, so we had limited intrusion from staff. Which is a good thing. They were there when we needed them, and weren't there when we didnt. Drinks came out fast. The one thing I will note, is that another reason for 3-stars and not 4, is because I literally ONLY HAD 1 type of cocktail: the New York Sour. This has bourbon, lemon juice, bitters (presumably angostura), and topped with...red wine! Hopefully you can understand why I only ordered this cocktail all night, because I found it really delicious and will now be making this at home. It really was good and I couldn't help but keep ordering them. So, kudos for a delicious cocktail, but sorry it may have hindered my review since I just didn't try anything else to potentially increase the stars. We had some deserts lined up too, of which I had a couple bites, but not enough for a fair review. All of my friends enjoyed the 3 deserts we had on the table. My bites of the tiramisu were very tasty. So, sorry if this review isn't that helpful, I merrily wanted people to know that this place is at bare minimum, A-OK and should be visited to make your own review. I will for sure be going back and trying more, with the intentions to increase the stars next time! Oh, and there was some mild confusion on some of the wine tastings my friend chose, and the staff handled it professionally and promptly. So far their service is at a B+ level. Above average. The power went out too, and their answer was to give us more candles, making the best of a bad situation. I thought it was great. *edit* I forgot to comment on the interior. Place was nice, we had the table up front and elevated slightly. Really simple interior that is the growing trend nowadays with hardwood, dim lighting, furniture that doesnt attract your attention but looks nice when it does, and a nicely laid out bar that looked to suit both functionality and aesthetics. Also it looked like they had about 30 wines on tap, which I may be incorrect.

The food was ok, but the service was TERRIBLE. Our waitress was in a terrible mood, It took 30 minutes for us to get our appetizeres, and over hour for our main courses. On top of that, they substituted the pasta on my friend's order and didnt even consult her. By the time the food arrived we were all so hungry she just took it anyway, but it was very rude. On top of that, the food was cold.

I loved this place. Our server, Alicia was so fantastic. The place was busier than expected on a Monday night and she was a stud. Our group of 6 ordered cocktails and wine and to be honest, I found the wine to be overpriced. But I will say that the old fashioned was the best I've had in Salt Lake. We ordered some bites, which were fine, and 2 pasta dishes from Molise. The food was pretty good for what it was. I would love to see this place have a more food forward focus. More innovation and creativity can go a long way for folks enjoying wine and looking for dishes that will complement their chosen beverage. However, atmosphere is cool and I can see myself enjoying a pre-dinner or after dinner drink at BTG. Food order not necessary for alcohol!

I had a couple of drinks in here on Monday night and everything was great. When I got my bank statement the following day it appears that the bartender whom I did tip greater than 15% changed my tip amount to suit her by another $5. WTF ! I will not be back here if that's the way they operate. If you go there for drinks BEWARE of this shady practice.

Loved this place! I think this is the type of bar that Salt Lake needed. The ambiance was fantastic with how they've set-up the small tables and some dark mood lighting. I thought they had a great selection of wines tried a red wine flight that was fantastic. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Also loved the appetizers from Cafe Molise that they offer. The meatballs (veggie and not) were out of this world.

I will be back often.

hit up the BTG Wine Bar saturday night (10/18), while strolling around town looking for a new place to check out with family from out of town. really chic joint. they have a pretty large wine selection and an interesting drink menu (good thing). the food selection was also tasty, especially not coming in with any expectation for food. unfortunately the service wasn't very friendly. when we sat, we were simply told 'what do you guys want?' we had asked 'what do you recommend?' and was told 'nothing, wine is subjective.' well okay, you'd think that being in a place seemingly geared towards wine drinkers or fans, they would at least ask what your palette is like so that they could perhaps give some recommendations to their menu. no, i'm not a wine pro or aficionado, but you wouldn't win any one over with an attitude like that and that unfortunately pretty much set the tone for the rest of the night . rather than pick a few randoms we knew not much about, we decided to just try a couple of flights. again, when our server came out, it was just, 'here's number one, number two, number three.' and off without much explaining. i guess that was fine and tried not to think much of it (i'm sure most would feel like i'm trying to sweat the person and be a tight wad b****, but it was nowhere close to being busy and we noticed him only having a few tables at the time). i guess it would be nice to figure out what was what (menu's were put away, and yes we could just go back and grab them and search it ourselves if we were THAT curious) and wondering why the three were paired together and why in that order. i mean, that's what flights are for, right? anyway, whatevs. our server showed up to our table two more times thereafter; once to pick up finished plates and wine glasses where we also ordered dessert, and lastly to hand off the bill. we had to bug one of the bartenders up front (who was super nice and understanding) to refill our waters and bring us some silverware to eat our dessert. all in all, we felt like we were singled out or something because we didn't have great knowledge of wine. the experience was unfriendly and standoffish from the get go. while we weren't asking for an education, we definitely felt like we could've been guided down a road where we'd enjoy what the place had intended on serving to those with tastes and preferences of all kinds. it's not that i wouldn't come back, but i'd cross my fingers that the next time i'd be served by someone who is as enthusiastic as one would think the restaurant's vibe would be.

If you happen to be able to catch the sommelier's ear, he will tell you all and more about the wine you are drinking. Ask for recommendations. It's worth it. He is a genuinely kind person who loves wine. The small bites are great and the Mac and cheese is not a pile noodles and cheese - it's quite pleasant and lighter than expected. The antipasti plate is almost an obligation.

A Utah wine bar may seem like a limited experience due to our perculiar laws, but I was really impressed with my first trip to BTG. My wife and I each ordered a flight, which is a great way to sample a few wines without commiting to a full glass of each. I love that the entire wine menu is available as 2 oz. pours. It really opens up the possibilities for sampling something new. The flights seemed well paired. I also liked the atmosphere and service, both of which added to the experience and made things seem laid back and comfortable. My only concern was that a number of tables were reserved for somewhat later times, but there were enough tables that we did not have to wait.

Went here for my first time on a Sunday evening and was floored. Fantastic ambiance. You can tell a lot of attention to detail went in to designing the space. The service was excellent although there was hardly anyone there. The flight orders are a great way to discover some more about wine - caveat I'm a complete wine novice. Our server had some wonderful insights to share when I asked him about my flight selection (endangered great whites). All in all this place will become part of my repertoire of go-to places when I want to have good conversation with great wine and a great environment.

Plenty of veggie options, including full menu from Italian restaurant next door. Gnocchi (and its sauce) were delicious. Wasn't expecting much but would def go back. Serves local brews. Service was a touch slow (short staffed?) and some items were just grabbed off my table without being asked. Dark atmosphere which is nice for this kind of place. Fine music selection, if schizophrenic (lounge beats to Motown, etc.).

Love the idea of this place. You can get any wine by the glass. It's such a great idea. You get to drink wine that you would normally not get. They had a $300 bottle that you could get BTG. Great atmosphere.

I also liked the atmosphere and service, both of which added to the experience and made things seem laid back and comfortable. hit up the BTG Wine Bar saturday night (10/18), while strolling around town looking for a new place to check out with family from out of town. really chic joint. they have a pretty large wine selection and an interesting drink menu (good thing). the food selection was also tasty, especially not coming in with any expectation for food. unfortunately the service wasn't very friendly. when we sat, we were simply told 'what do you guys want?' we had asked 'what do you recommend?' and was told 'nothing, wine is subjective.' well okay, you'd think that being in a place seemingly geared towards wine drinkers or fans, they would at least ask what your palette is like so that they could perhaps give some recommendations to their menu. no, i'm not a wine pro or aficionado, but you wouldn't win any one over with an attitude like that and that unfortunately pretty much set the tone for the rest of the night . rather than pick a few randoms we knew not much about, we decided to just try a couple of flights. again, when our server came out, it was just, 'here's number one, number two, number three.' and off without much explaining. i guess that was fine and tried not to think much of it (i'm sure most would feel like i'm trying to sweat the person and be a tight wad b****, but it was nowhere close to being busy and we noticed him only having a few tables at the time). i guess it would be nice to figure out what was what (menu's were put away, and yes we could just go back and grab them and search it ourselves if we were THAT curious) and wondering why the three were paired together and why in that order. i mean, that's what flights are for, right? anyway, whatevs. our server showed up to our table two more times thereafter; once to pick up finished plates and wine glasses where we also ordered dessert, and lastly to hand off the bill. we had to bug one of the bartenders up front (who was super nice and understanding) to refill our waters and bring us some silverware to eat our dessert. all in all, we felt like we were singled out or something because we didn't have great knowledge of wine. the experience was unfriendly and standoffish from the get go. while we weren't asking for an education, we definitely felt like we could've been guided down a road where we'd enjoy what the place had intended on serving to those with tastes and preferences of all kinds. it's not that i wouldn't come back, but i'd cross my fingers that the next time i'd be served by someone who is as enthusiastic as one would think the restaurant's vibe would be.

Great vibes and knowledgeable staff! Went here for a low key romantic night. I made a reservation and they gave us a nice table with view of the restaurant and very cozy. Our waiter was able to give us knowledge on all the wines and made great suggestions. The wine flights are a good choice if you want to have a variety. Will be back again

Dang it! I really wanted to fall in love with this place and it's wine. I still have hope for it and I hope that because the liquor license is temporary, that is why the wait staff are not properly trained and that the service is so close to being high end but just misses the mark. I called on a Saturday at 6pm to see if I could make a reservation. The host was a little frazzled on the phone and said "they open at 5". I then could sense him realizing it was well past that and he apologized and said it was a long day (yikes! their night just started!). Fast forward to our dinner reservation for two at 6:30 and they put us in this huge booth in the window at the front that can probably hold 8 people. It was a little awkward but hey we'll act like VIPS if they want. The decor is really swanky and nice. They did a great job with the place! The bar is beautiful and it isn't too hipster/modern. It's right across the street from the Marriott so I'm guessing if they play their cards right, the front desk will recommend them and they will be set with the casual customer looking for a meal/drink. The cocktails menu looks appealing but I was there for the wine since it is a "wine bar". OOF THOSE PRICES. I'm not a wine snob and I will totally shell out $30-$40 for a bottle of wine (which i know is still on the cheaper side) but the choices were hard to come by. The median price on the list for a bottle was well over $60 bucks which was unfortunate as I can't really afford the higher end stuff but I still want to invest in a nice bottle. They only had a few cabs and they were all priced well over $50 so that was out (and that's my favorite). I settled on a zin and although it was ok, it was way too jammy for my liking. You can choose a 2 oz., 5 oz, or a bottle. seemed awkward to get a 5 oz so duh..bottle. They don't have a full kitchen but serve the food from Cafe Molisse which is a few doors down. Now i've never been there, but I'm going to guess their servers are well trained on their food and presentation/service. Although our server was great and very enthusiastic, his style and knowledge was a bit lacking. His one liners about the meals seemed rehearsed and his timing with clearing plates or engaging with us on the experience were off. We went during the Dine O'Round promotion for downtown and they were offering the options from Cafe Molisse. It is limited to a few items from the apps, main course, and dessert. Unfortunately they did not have a specially printed menu for this so be sure you have your memory cap on or a pen and paper for when the waiter tells you all the options and then leaves you with a menu that has no notations to what he just said but has a bunch of everything else! We had the grilled peach with cheese. I dont' remember what kind of cheese but it tasted like whipped cream which was super weird. It wasn't all that great. The house salad is very basic and not very tasty either. I had the pork chop which was good. The boy had lasagna which wasn't my favorite but it wasn't terrible. The dessert options are both not made in house which really bummed me out as I wanted to experience the food as it is made from the restaurant and get a feel for their flavor. We chose the cheesecake and it was good. Super awkward though when the waiter offered to box my food up as we ate it and then proceeded to shovel my leftovers into my to-go container on the edge of our table. I get his intention but either let me do it or take my plate to the bar counter or kitchen and make it more of a presentation of service? i dunno. maybe my expectations were too high but for a meal that turned out to be about $60 a head, i expected a higher end experience. Not sure if i'll be back. Maybe if they extend the wine menu to be a bit more affordable...i might be more inclined.

Our waiter was able to give us knowledge on all the wines and made great suggestions. The wine flights are a good choice if you want to have a variety. Will be back again

I absolutely loved this place it was like finding a diamond in the rough! We spent 2 hours here drinking wine and creating memories! Highly recommend if you are looking for a chill environment!

This place has a great atmosphere, decent wines (I'm sure that you'll find d one that you'll like) and the bartender knows his way around a cocktail.

hit up the BTG Wine Bar saturday night (10/18), while strolling around town looking for a new place to check out with family from out of town. really chic joint. they have a pretty large wine selection and an interesting drink menu (good thing). the food selection was also tasty, especially not coming in with any expectation for food. unfortunately the service wasn't very friendly. when we sat, we were simply told 'what do you guys want?' we had asked 'what do you recommend?' and was told 'nothing, wine is subjective.' well okay, you'd think that being in a place seemingly geared towards wine drinkers or fans, they would at least ask what your palette is like so that they could perhaps give some recommendations to their menu. no, i'm not a wine pro or aficionado, but you wouldn't win any one over with an attitude like that and that unfortunately pretty much set the tone for the rest of the night . rather than pick a few randoms we knew not much about, we decided to just try a couple of flights. again, when our server came out, it was just, 'here's number one, number two, number three.' and off without much explaining. i guess that was fine and tried not to think much of it (i'm sure most would feel like i'm trying to sweat the person and be a tight wad b****, but it was nowhere close to being busy and we noticed him only having a few tables at the time). i guess it would be nice to figure out what was what (menu's were put away, and yes we could just go back and grab them and search it ourselves if we were THAT curious) and wondering why the three were paired together and why in that order. i mean, that's what flights are for, right? anyway, whatevs. our server showed up to our table two more times thereafter; once to pick up finished plates and wine glasses where we also ordered dessert, and lastly to hand off the bill. we had to bug one of the bartenders up front (who was super nice and understanding) to refill our waters and bring us some silverware to eat our dessert. all in all, we felt like we were singled out or something because we didn't have great knowledge of wine. the experience was unfriendly and standoffish from the get go. while we weren't asking for an education, we definitely felt like we could've been guided down a road where we'd enjoy what the place had intended on serving to those with tastes and preferences of all kinds. it's not that i wouldn't come back, but i'd cross my fingers that the next time i'd be served by someone who is as enthusiastic as one would think the restaurant's vibe would be.
